Advisory Board

 Our board is made up of wonderful women who represent five Christian denominations and three ethnic groups. We choose to demonstrate Christ rather than preach. We are moderate, relaxed, and open in how we deal with single moms, but we take the Christian religion and Christian spirituality seriously. We rely on the Bible, but are not dogmatic. We are interested in interfaith dialog and will not pressure our neighbors. Our primary form of witness is by our lives, but we do not hide the fact that we are Christians. We host Make-Over Days for single mothers in which we truly bless the moms with pampering and gifts. In doing so we hope to let Christ’s love shine through.

 Briefs about our board members:

Therese Bedwell lives in Missouri City, Texas. She raised one son who died as a young adult due to a birth defect that he dealt with all his precious and brief life.

Betty Bernard was a guest at our first retreat. She has become an integral part of the ministry as she counsels and shares her story with other moms. She has experienced life’s hardest blows and remains a steady witness to staying on the path.

 

Sheri Dietz

 

Sheri Dietz is the mother of a son and a daughter. She lives in Nederland and is a professional photographer. www.sasportraitdesign.com Sheri also began and continues to work with a program for the middle school students at our church, Southside Baptist in Port Neches, Texas.

 

Donna Erickson

Donna Erickson lives in Wildwood, Texas and is married to Robert. She has a grown son and daughter. Her son has Down’s Syndrome, which gives her the personal experience of raising a child with a disability. She is able and willing to talk with single moms who are also in this situation. She has worked in the field of social work and is a great asset to our ministry. She is also a fabulous interior decorator.

  

Betsy Hart

 

Betsy Hart lives in Port Arthur, Texas. Betsy raised a son and a daughter. She recently retired after many years as a Braillist in the Nederland ISD. She now works for her church. She serves as the friendly Greeter for our reTREATS.

  

[no photo]    Tammy Jacko lives in Port Arthur, Texas. She has a son. She teaches elementary school. Tammy is our prayer warrior.

  

Vicki Price Ph.D.

Vicki Price, Ph.D. lives in Beaumont, Texas. Vicki is mother to two daughters and a son. Vicki is the minister of education at Calder Baptist Church, has served as a missionary to Japan, and is a professor of English at Lamar University in Beaumont.

 

 

[no photo]     Sheila Sanders-Gillespie lives in Port Neches, Texas. Sheila has a daughter and is devoted to being a terrific mom. Sheila assists with our make-up and wardrobe sessions. She is our fashion plate.

Gale Simmons

 

Gale Simmons lives in Beaumont, Texas. Gale is mother to two grown daughters. She owns Fine Points, Inc. She wants to be of support to single mothers.

 

 

 

[no photo]    Margaret Somers lives in Houston. She is mother to three grown children, a daughter and two sons. Margaret encourages others to refresh the mind, spirit, and body. She is very knowledgeable in the area of business planning.

Carol Wommack

 

Carol Wommack lives in Port Arthur. She has a grown son and daughter. Carol is a widow of seventeen years. She teaches etiquette classes and also is the executive assistant to the president of Lamar College in Port Arthur.
